Njarðvík, Iceland.
Outdoor teaching area for an elementary school. This maritime theme area is planned for stimulation and fun, also it makes shelter for teaching in the rough Icelandic weather. All new elements in the playground are custom made, referring to the cultural heritage of the town.
The first part of the project was realized in august 2011 by volunteers from around the world, as well as families from the local area.
The realization of the project was a great event for the community and has received positive critique and awards for the outdoor teaching concept.
With plans for more things to come, Narfakot has great potential in becoming one of the most frequently visited recreational areas in the district.
